Recap: Montana vs. Eastern Wash
Missoula, MT (Sports Network) - Kareem Jamar registered a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds as Montana posted a 74-66 win over Eastern Washington in the semifinals of the Big Sky Conference Tournament at Dahlberg Arena.
Also having a strong game for the top-seeded Grizzlies (24-6) was Mathias Ward with 19 points and seven rebounds, knocking down all 12 of his free-throw attempts on the night. Will Cherry and Derek Selvig contributed 16 and 12 points, respectively, for a Montana squad which is now set to face second- seeded Weber State in the title game of the tournament on Wednesday night.
The fourth-seeded Eagles (15-17) were paced by Cliff Colimon who posted a game-high 27 points, while Cliff Ederaine tacked on 16 points. Laron Griffin responded with a double-double consisting of 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Eastern Washington made good on an impressive 50.0 percent from the field in the first half, but the team converted just 2-of-9 behind the three-point line, which limited the team to just a 35-30 lead at the break. Montana connected on a total of just eight field goals in the period and 1-of-9 shots behind the three-point line.
In the second half the Grizzlies stormed back with 58.3 percent accuracy from the field and 14-of-16 shooting at the charity stripe to steal away the win.
The Grizzlies finished the night shooting only 3-of-13 behind the three-point line, but made up for it by outscoring the Eagles at the free-throw line by a 27-11 margin.
Montana, which has won a total of seven conference titles, is back in the championship game for the third straight year.
