Recap: Clemson vs. Virginia Tech

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Erick Green scored 24 points, as Virginia Tech rallied in the second half to beat Clemson, 68-63, in the first round of the ACC Tournament.

Dorenzo Hudson scored 19 and his three-pointer put Virginia Tech ahead for good with under five minutes left. Cadarian Raines added nine points for the 10th-seeded Hokies (16-16), who will battle No. 2 seed Duke in the quarterfinals Friday night. The Blue Devils are the three-time defending ACC tourney champions.

Devin Coleman had 15 points, while Milton Jennings and Andre Young each chipped in 13 for the seventh-seeded Tigers (16-15), who are 17-59 all-time in the tournament. Tanner Smith had 12 points and six assists in defeat.

Hudson's three-pointer capped a 14-3 early burst for the Hokies, who grabbed a 16-11 lead midway through the first half, but Clemson rallied to move ahead at the break. A layup from Raines widened Virginia Tech's lead to 27-21 before Clemson ended the half on a 14-3 spurt, capped by Young's three-ball in the closing minute.

The see-saw battle continued in the second half with Dorian Finney-Smith's free throw putting the Hokies up, 40-39.

Back-to-back three-balls from Hudson and Green gave Virginia Tech a 58-52 cushion with nearly four minutes left.

A three-pointer from Jennings with 16.3 seconds to go made it a three-point margin, but then Hudson made a pair from the charity stripe with 15.2 on the clock to seal the outcome.

Clemson made nearly 54 percent of its shots in the opening 20 minutes, but went 9-of-24 shooting in the second half.
