Recap: Dayton vs. George Washington

Dayton, OH (Sports Network) - Devin Oliver scored a game-high 19 points, leading four players in double figures, as Dayton dismissed George Washington, 67-50, in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament at UD Arena.

Kevin Dillard accounted for 13 points and a game-high eight assists for the sixth-seeded Flyers (20-11), while Paul Williams and Josh Parker pitched in with 10 points apiece. With the victory Dayton advances to the quarterfinals on Friday and will face third-seeded Xavier at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ.

The 11th-seeded Colonials (10-21) were paced by David Pellom who came off the bench to register a double-double consisting of 18 points and a game-high 10 rebounds in the setback.

Dayton scored the first points of the night and never looked back, connecting on 50.0 percent from the floor and 10-of-11 at the free-throw line as it moved out to a 31-17 lead at the break. The Colonials converted a total of just seven field goals through the first 20 minutes of action.

In the second half the Flyers again shot the ball quite well at 52.2 percent from the field, not to mention 8-of-9 at the charity stripe, en route to the 17-point home win.

The hosts outscored GW by a margin of 18-9 at the free-throw line which helped the Flyers to overcome 17 turnovers on the night.
