Recap: FIU vs. Troy

Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Emil Jones scored 17 points to lead the Troy Trojans to a 75-70 overtime win over the Florida International Golden Panthers in a Sun Belt Conference tilt at U.S. Century Bank Arena.

Alan Jones added 15 points in the win for Troy (9-17, 4-11 Sun Belt).

Jeremy Allen posted a game-high 22 points to lead the way for FIU (7-20, 4-11), which also got 20 and 13 points from Phil Taylor and DeJuan Wright, with the latter responsible for 10 boards as well.

FIU shot 55.0 percent from the floor during the opening stanza, but a 9-for-11 effort at the charity stripe earned Troy a 35-31 halftime edge.

In the second half the Trojans couldn't break away from the relentless Panthers, who shot at a 53.8 percent clip and tied the contest at 67-67 on an Allen layup with under 30 seconds remaining. The Trojans got the final shot, but an attempt from Will Weathers was blocked and the contest went to overtime.

In the extra session, Troy held the Panthers to just three points on 1-of-7 shooting to earn the five-point decision.

FIU committed a game-high 19 giveaways during the meeting.
