Recap: Loyola-Chicago vs. Green Bay
Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Kam Cerroni hit a three-pointer as time expired in overtime to lift the Green Bay Phoenix to a thrilling 73-70 win over the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers in Horizon League action.
Brennan Cougill scored 19 points and was a rebound shy of a double-double to pace Green Bay (14-14, 9-8 Horizon). Alec Brown posted an 18 point, 12 rebound double-double and Keifer Sykes added 13 points and eight assists as the Phoenix won its fourth straight. Steve Baker also had 10 points.
Ben Averkamp poured in 26 points and brought in 10 rebounds for a double-double of his own to lead the way for Loyola-Chicago (7-21, 1-16). Joe Crisman added 12 points and six assists while Jordan Hicks and Denzel Brito each chipped in 10 points as the Ramblers have now lost three of their last four.
Green Bay led 31-26 at the half after shooting 44.4 percent from the floor to just 40.0 percent from Loyola-Chicago.
The second half featured two ties and four lead changes. Cerroni nailed a three pointer to give the Phoenix a 63-59 lead with 24 seconds remaining but the Ramblers scored the final four points of regulation including an Averkamp tip-in as time expired to send the game to overtime.
Averkamp went 1-for-2 from the free throw line with eight seconds remaining to tie the game for the 11th time at 70-70 in the extra frame. The Phoenix then raced down the court to set up Cerroni's game-winner.Game Notes
