Recap: San Jose St vs. Utah State
San Jose, CA (Sports Network) - Preston Medlin scored a game-high 26 points as Utah State delivered a 71-61 win over San Jose State in Western Athletic Conference play at The Event Center.
Medlin shot 5-of-8 behind the three-point line and grabbed five rebounds for the Aggies (16-14, 7-6 WAC) as they posted their third win in four tries. Also scoring in double figures for the squad were Brockeith Pane and Mitch Bruneel with 14 and 12 points, respectively.
The Spartans (9-20, 1-12) were paced by Wil Carter who recorded a double- double with 19 points and a game-high 13 rebounds but still the team suffered a third straight setback. James Kinney dropped in 24 points and Keith Shamburger 13 for the hosts.
USU, which didn't make a single trip to the foul line in the first half, instead shot 53.8 percent from the field and 5-of-11 beyond the arc in order to take a 33-30 lead at the break.
In the second half the Aggies continued to shoot the ball well at a 56.5 percent clip, en route to the double-digit win.
SJSU, which finished the night shooting only 38.6 percent from the floor, beat the visitors on the glass by a 34-21 margin.Game Notes
