Recap: Fresno State vs. Louisiana Tech

Fresno, CA (Sports Network) - Behind Trevor Gaskins' 16 points, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs held off a late comeback attempt by the Fresno State Bulldogs to win 75-70 in Western Athletic Conference action at the Save Mart Center.

Raheem Appleby scored 15 points for Louisiana Tech (16-14, 6-7 WAC), which has won five in a row. Brandon Gibson tallied 12 points and 11 rebounds and Romario Souza also put up 12 points.

For Fresno State (13-18, 3-10), which has lost back-to-back games, Jonathan Wells recorded 16 points and eight rebounds, Garrett Johnson added 12 points, and Tyler Johnson chipped in with 10 points.

Louisiana Tech got out to a comfortable 39-23 lead at halftime behind a red- hot 62.5 percent field goal shooting. Fresno State made just 7-of-27 (25.9 percent) of its field goals in the opening stanza.

Fresno State improved its shooting to 53.1 percent from the field after the break, and it cut the deficit to as little as four at one point, but Louisiana Tech held on for the win.

Both teams took good care of the basketball, with each squad turning it over just 12 times.
