Recap: Tulane vs. East Carolina
New Orleans, LA (Sports Network) - Maurice Kemp posted a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead the East Carolina Pirates over the Tulane Green Wave, 66-49, in a Conference USA tilt at Fogelman Arena.
Darrius Morrow added 19 points for Pirates (14-15, 5-11 C-USA), who will be the 10th seed in next week's Conference USA Tournament and face No. 7 seed Rice on Wednesday.
Ricky Tarrant led the Green Wave (15-15, 3-13) with 16 points. Tulane will be the 12th seed in the tourney and match up against No. 5 seed UAB, also on Wednesday.
In the first half East Carolina shot just 38.5 percent from the field, including 2-of-9 from three-point range. Tulane was slightly more accurate at 42.9 percent, including 2-of-8 from beyond the arc. A 9-7 advantage in points off turnovers and 4-0 advantage in second-chance points allowed the Pirates to take a 26-22 lead into intermission.
After halftime the Pirates shot very well, connecting on 58.3 percent from the field, while they held the Green Wave to just 33.3 percent. After trailing by seven with 6:26 to play, Tulane was outscored 19-9 down the stretch as ECU snagged the road victory and handed Tulane a seventh-straight loss.
ECU outscored Tulane in the paint, 30-22. The Pirates also had a 12-1 advantage in second-chance points.Game Notes
