Recap: George Washington vs. La Salle

Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Jerrell Wright had 15 points and Earl Pettis added 14 as La Salle held off George Washington, 60-56, at the Charles E. Smith Center.

Tyreek Duren tallied 12 points for the Explorers (19-11, 8-7 A-10), who snapped a two-game skid overall, but swept GW in the season series. Sam Mills and Ramon Galloway each chipped in nine points for La Salle, which nearly blew a 10-point lead in the final three minutes.

David Pellom had 16 points and 11 rebounds in a reserve role for the Colonials (10-19, 5-10), who have dropped three of their last four contests. Lasan Kromah and Aaron Ware both scored 10 for George Washington, which lost despite holding a 35-1 advantage in bench points.

Two free throws from Duren with 3:17 remaining increased La Salle's lead to 57-47, but GW clawed back with the next nine points, including a bucket from Tony Taylor that made it a one-point margin with 21.6 seconds left.

Duren then countered with a pair of 1-of-2 performances from the line, the last in that span coming with 2.4 seconds left after Taylor missed a potential tying jumper.

After a turnover by GW, Devon White drained a foul shot to seal the outcome.
