Blacksburg, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - According to multiple reports, Buzz Williams will leave Marquette to become the head men's basketball coach at Virginia Tech.

The Hokies recently fired head coach James Johnson after just two years at the helm. Virginia Tech went 22-41 under Johnson, winning just six of 30 ACC contests.

Williams had considerable success in six seasons with Marquette, reaching the NCAA Tournament five times. The Golden Eagles advanced to the Sweet 16 on three occasions under his direction, reaching the Elite Eight in 2013.

Williams, who had a 139-65 mark at Marquette, reportedly received a seven-year contract with Virginia Tech.
