Restructuring of the Red Wing Shoe Company means it will be closing the Danville, Kentucky facility in June of next year. The second shift at a Minnesota plant will also be eliminated. It will result in the layoff of approximately 200 employees. Red Wing has operated the danville facility since 1994. Red Wing will shift the Danville production to their Potosi, Missouri and Red Wing, Minnesota factories. There are 206 employees at the Danville plant. They will be working with state and local agencies with job placement and employment counseling. Some employees may be able to transfer to their Missouri plant. This is the latest in a string of closings for Danville. Goody's, Dawahares and Rite Aid have already closed, and K-mart is in the process of closing. Trackback ( 0 )
