"You always have those core fans that will follow them regardless but then when they have winning seasons it gets stronger and stronger and stronger and everybody just gets really excited," says Georgetown Mayor Karen Tingle-Sames. More than 50,000 Bengals fans are expected to descend upon Georgetown over the next two weeks for training camp. "It puts about $3 million into our local economy during the time that their here. So, that's wonderful from the smallest shops in town to the restaurants to gas stations, some hotels," explains Tingle-Sames. And restaurants like Galvins on East Main Street do see a big boost in business. "We get a lot of people that come in from Ohio, from here in town, they're ready to get their Bengals fan on and its really busy . It's really busy here for the next two weeks," comments Galvin's Manager Roxanne Parham. And, the Bengals will be in Georgetown for at least one more year, they just re-signed their contract with Georgetown College but the mayor hopes the team will be here for many more years after that. "Georgetown has been good to the Bengals and they've been good to us as well. I think the college and the Bengals have a great working relationship. it's good to know they'll be here for another year and we support them to some as many years as they want to come to Georgetown," says Tingle-Sames.
