Rand Paul Making It Official

Bowling Green eye surgeon Rand Paul is expected to file the necessary paperwork to officially enter the Republican primary race in hopes of winning the U.S. Senate seat now held by Jim Bunning.

Campaign Manager David Adams said Paul, accompanied by a large contingent of supporters, will submit his candidacy papers to the secretary of state's office this afternoon.

Paul is the son of Republican U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas who ran unsuccessfully last year for the GOP presidential nomination.

The younger Paul has raised some $1.7 million for his Senate run.
