Many of us saw our first frost of the fall this Sunday morning as temperatures dipped below freezing in many locations.  A new record low was set in Jackson, KY.  Here's a list of low temperatures from Sunday AM:

Bowling Green:  34

Frankfort:  29

Huntington, WV:  33

Jackson:  33 (old record: 34, initially set in 2001)

Lexington:  30

London:  32

Louisville:  33

Sunday night will be another frosty night, and it is likely to be a few degrees colder in eastern Kentucky than it was last night.  A freeze warning is in effect for the overnight hours into early Monday.  Under clear skies, temperatures will fall to 31 degrees in Lexington by dawn on Monday morning.

A long overdue warm-up will begin on Monday under sunny skies.  Highs will climb to near 60 degrees... which is nearly a 30 degree jump from 7 AM to 4 PM.

High pressure will continue to shift east across Kentucky through midweek.  Under partly sunny skies, Tuesday and Wednesday will be progressively warmer.  On Tuesday afternoon, highs will reach 68 degrees, and on Wednesday afternoon, we should climb to near 72 in Lexington.

Thursday will also be warm, with highs a few degrees above average.  We should top out around 72 once again, and partly cloudy skies will become mostly cloudy late in the day.  Look for showers and thunderstorms to spread into our area from the west late in the day as a cold front approaches.

The front will cross the region on Friday, producing additional showers and thunderstorms.  Highs will be near 63 degrees under cloudier skies.  A few showers will linger into Saturday, especially in eastern Kentucky.  Highs will be around 55 degrees on Saturday.

Partly sunny and dry weather will return on a cool Sunday, when highs will reach 58 degrees.
