Dawahares Closing for Good

A company that's been a Kentucky fixture for more than a century is closing its doors for good.

Dawahares, a family owned business, was unable to get loans to stay opened after filing for bankruptcy in May 30th. Nine stores were closed at that time and 107 people were laid off. Now, the remaining 22 stores, including four in Lexington, will shut down by September 30th.

The closures will affects about 400 employees.

The company will liquidate its inventory at Dawahares and Cat Bird Seat stores starting July 14th.
