Kentucky will more than double the assistance it gives this year for winter heating assistance. On Friday, U.S. Representative John Yarmuth, Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear and Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson announced the state will receive more than $68 million for heating assistance. That money will be distributed through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program. Beshear says the additional funds would allow the state to help up to 159,000 more families than last year, when 45,000 were turned away after funding ran out. |
