named in domestic violence orders to wear ankle monitors. The measure, known as "Amanda's Bill," passed the House unanimously on Tuesday. The bill was named after Amanda Ross, who was gunned down outside of her Lexington home on September 11th of last year. Her ex-fiance', Steve Nunn, is accused of killing her. Ross had a domestic violence order out on Nunn at the time of her death. "This is not about his guilt or innocence," House Speaker Greg Stumbo told lawmakers Tuesday. "A jury of 12 men and women in Fayette County will decide that. This is about a protection that would be available form here on out." The bill would allow for real-time tracking of domestic violence offenders and warnings for their victims. The head of the Bluegrass Domestic Violence Program said after the vote that "it's a good start" but there's more work to do. "The next piece we're very interested in is getting dating violence passed because we believe all victims should be afforded the same protections," said Thomas. The bill now heads to the Senate.
