A little over a year ago, the National Transportation Safety Board released its findings on the cause of the crash of Comair Flight 5191.

Its conclusion: pilot error.

But the board also included in its findings nine new safety recommendations, including better signs on runways and taxiways, better technology in planes and control towers and a change in the duties and schedules of air traffic controllers.

"We think that there is some progress being made in each of those areas," said Debbie Hersman of the NTSB.
"But what the NTSB wants to see is all of our recommendations implemented."

Hersman said she would also like to see improvements in the schedules of air traffic controllers.

She also wants the FAA to make new technology and upgrades in the cockpit mandatory.
