Lexington police are trying to determine what happened after a woman said she was shot walking along a street.
Police said they received calls about shots fired in the area of Ross Street early Tuesday morning.
When they arrived, they were flagged down by a man on a porch who told them a woman was in his apartment refusing to leave and that she had been shot.
Police said the woman told them she was walking down a street when someone shot her in the shoulder but she had no idea who did it.
Police also said the woman was impaired and couldn't tell them what street she had been shot on.
The woman was taken to the hospital with a non-life threatening injury.
