Mother nature is not being kind to the eastern half of the state.

In Rowan County, water is standing high enough in some roadways to cover most vehicle tires.

Officials said if the snow melts quickly, it could rise even higher.

Fire crews said they went around the community throughout the day checking on anyone who may be stranded by flood waters.

All that water is leading to additional problems as well, including mud slides.

State road crews said they spent all of Wednesday afternoon getting Highway 801 cleared after an early morning slide caused it to close.

Although the road has since reopened, workers said drivers should stay alert for potential dangers.

Officials also said if anyone in a flooded area needs to get out of their home, they should call dispatch to have a rescue crew sent out.
