Wayne County made it to Bowling Green and a state title game for the first time in program history.

But the perfect season, also a first for Wayne Co., came to a close today as Belfry took home the 3A crown 3-0.

The Pirates gained 244 yards on offense to Wayne's 208, both teams averaging 4.4 yards per play on the day.

Belfry fumbled three times, losing two to the Cards, but Wayne County never turned those into points.

Wayne's Tyler Guffey went 12-of-30 for 169 yards passing.  Jason Perkins caught five balls for 103 yards.

Alan Brown had 13 solo tackles for the Cards on the day.

It's Belfry's first state title since winning back-to-back crowns in 2003 and '04.
