The owners of 22 horses that mysteriously showed up in a Kentucky State Trooper's front yard in Bath County on Christmas Day came forward Thursday and claimed the animals.

According to a news release from State Police, the owners said the horses got loose due to damage sustained during recent storms.

All of the horses have been accounted for and are being returned to the owners.

Ever since the animals showed up in State Police Sergeant Jim Bowling's yard, he has been feeding and watering them and appealing publicly to find the rightful owners.

The mystery has been solved and this unusual Christmas Day story has a happy ending.
