Officials have now named the third victim in the shooting, 59-year-old Daniel P. Smith of Richmond. Police have released a description of the suspect. He is a male in his 40-50's with a green camo jacket and a pot belly. He was last seen going down a back alley. If anyone has any information contact the Danville Police Department (859) 238-1224.
Update 5:00 p.m
The Boyle County Coroner has confirmed that two of the victims were Michael and Angela Hockensmith. A 9-year-old and 2-year-old were inside the business when the shooting occurred. Police would not say what relation the two children had to the Hockensmiths. Authorities are continuing to search the area for the suspect. The Boyle County Sheriff’s say they’re looking for a man in his mid-20’s with a long scruffy beard and a black hoodie. They say he was last seen in this general area on a bicycle. Earlier all schools in the area were on lockdown, however officials have lifted that. Danville Chief of Police Tony Gray says they’ve yet to find a witness to the shooting and is urging the public to call if they know anything. ABC 36 spoke to the owner of the Pawn Shop and he told us that the process of setting up a memorial fund for the Hockensmiths. He says there are no details as of yet.
Update: 1:30 p.m.
New details are emerging in a shooting in Danville.
The Danville Police Chief says there are three fatalities in the shooting; 2 males and one female.
None of the victims have been identified.
Police say they received the 911 call from a 9 year old child inside the ABC Gold Games and More pawn shop.
An additional toddler was inside the shop at the time of the shooting.
Police say both of the children are okay.
Police have not identified any suspects in the shooting, and do not know what caused the incident.
The lockdown on nearby Centre College has been lifted, but the lockdown on the Boyle County school district remains in effect.
Update: 12:45 p.m.
Centre College has been informed by Danville Police that we are clear to go off of lockdown, effective immediately. Classes will resume at 1:50 p.m.
Breaking News 11:00 a.m.
Danville police are investigating a double homicide that occurred at ABC Gold Games and More on 4th street in Danville this morning. Authorities are actively searching for the shooter who remains at large.
Centre College is on lock down and classes are cancelled until further notice. Boyle County Schools are on lockdown as well.
The Centre College community was alerted through an emergency alert system and updates are being providing through the same means and social media
Centre College encourages everyone to get to a secure building and stay where they are with doors closed. More information will be provided as available.
