Police are searching for suspects after two back-to-back burglaries near University of Kentucky’s campus.

The first happened around 1 a.m. Thursday at the Red Mile Village Apartments on Red Mile Road.

Police said two men were inside their apartment when a man they didn’t know came in through an unlocked door.

The men told police the suspect had a gun and took both of their laptops and cell phones.

Police said he then ran off with another man who had been waiting outside.

Just 30 minutes later, the second burglary occurred at a home on Bonnie Brae Drive.

Police said they believe it was a crime of opportunity.

Police said a man was just getting home from the store when five suspects followed him inside through an unlocked door.

The man found the suspects inside his home, stealing his wallet, cell phone and laptop.

Officials tried tracking suspects using police dogs at both scenes but said they weren’t about to find anyone.

Police said they don’t believe the two crimes are linked.
