A traffic stop led to a chase for Lexington Police officers early Monday morning.

Police said they pulled over a car in the Hardee’s parking lot on Winchester Road just after 1:30 a.m. because there was a warrant out for the car’s owner.

When the car stopped, officers said they realized the owner was not inside and the driver took off running.

Police dogs searched the area but were not able to find the suspect.

Officers said they did find drugs inside the car.

When caught, police said the suspect will face charges for fleeing and possession.
