A toddler reported missing in California and found by UK Police will not be going back to her mother.
According to police in Los Angeles, Alouette Day-Moreno-Baltierra will be placed in child protective custody. Police say child services in California have an open case file on the girl's mother. Alouette is still in Kentucky, and police aren't sure when she'll be transferred to child protective services in California.
The 17-month-old was reported missing October, 15, 2011. Two UK police officers spotted the child being pushed in a stroller by a woman on December 28th. The woman pushing the stroller was later identified as the girl's grandmother, Maria Baltierra -Dejesus, 62. Baltierra-Dejesus is in jail in Lexington. She's scheduled to make her first court appearance on January 2nd.
