Three people were arrested and charged with criminal abuse after two children were taken to the hospital.
The Boyle County Sheriff's office said Vince Peyton and Joyce Wofford were drunk when they walked into the store in Junction City Thursday with a two-year-old and a six-month-old.
The store owner and customers told deputies the infant had several injuries and an overflowing diaper.
They also said neither child was dressed for the cold weather and that the infant was coughing and wheezing.
Deputies said Peyton and Wofford left with the older child and let a customer keep the infant.
The infant was taken to the hospital.
The two-year-old was later brought  to the hospital.
Deputies said the children's mother, Chasity Peyton, arrived at the hospital and told them she left the children in the care of Vince Peyton and Joyce Wofford earlier in the day.
All three were arrested Sunday and charged with criminal abuse, endangering the welfare of a child and wanton endangerment.
The children are in the care of family members, according to the sheriff's office.
