Thousands of people came to downtown Lexington to watch the July 4th Parade, despite steady rains and occasional downpours.

Floats started rolling down Main Street around 2 this afternoon. It wasn't the typical scene for a July 4th Parade - instead of t-shirts and shorts, spectators wore ponchos and gripped umbrellas.

Mayor Jim Gray embraced the situation, donning a rain jacket and carrying a megaphone.
