A new report from the Kentucky Injury and Prevention Research Center reveals that while drug overdoses appear to be leveling off, there's been a sharp rise in deaths from heroin use.

According to the report, there was a 207 percent increase in heroin-related deaths, a 174 percent rise in inpatient hospitalizations from heroin and a 197 percent increase in emergency room visits due to heroin from 2011 to 2012.

Carroll, Casey, Johnson, Nicholas, and Powell counties had the highest number of overdose visits in their emergency departments from 2008 to 2012.
