It was a big fire at a big house that created big challenges for Lexington firefighters Thursday afternoon.
A home in the exclusive McMeekin Place neighborhood caught fire. Firefighters said the home was burning in eight or nine different places when they arrived on the scene.
No one was home at the time of the fire.
Firefighters said because the house was so big, the fire was hard to fight.
Hoses were getting twisted as firefighters moved from room-to-room.
There was extensive damage to the interior of the home.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Firefighters said the home is owned by Robert Langley, who owns Joseph-Beth Booksellers and the Mall at Lexington Green.
