Former Police Chief Running For Mayor

On Tuesday afternoon former Lexington Police Chief Anthany Beatty, Sr. announced he was running for mayor.

Before retiring Beatty, 62, was Lexington’s police chief from 2001 to 2008. He is currently University of Kentucky's Vice President of Campus Services and Public Safety.

Mayor Jim Gray also filed for re-election on Tuesday afternoon. Mayor Gray has been serving as mayor since 2011.

On Monday Danny Mayer an associate professor of English at Bluegrass Community College filed.

There will be a primary in May then the top two will move to the November election.
