Part of I-75 in Lexington was shut down Wednesday night after police say a semi truck collided with a car.

Officers say it happened on the south side of the highway about two miles before the Clays Ferry exit.

Police say it started when a Cadillac collided with a pickup truck in the center lane.

According to investigators, the pickup driver then pulled off the road.

But they say the Cadillac was still in the center lane when it was hit by a semi.

Police say the semi, which was hauling scrap aluminum, then overturned.

Officers say one person in the Cadillac was taken to the hospital with a rib injury but is expected to be okay.

They say the pickup driver was not hurt.

No word yet on the condition of the semi driver.

There was still a lengthy traffic backup on that stretch of I-75 south as of 10:00pm Wednesday.

Police don't know yet when it will be reopened to traffic.
