Jesse Delautre, 32, was arrested Thursday after police said he admitted to exploiting an Alzheimer’s patient out of around $3,100.

According to court documents, Delautre wrote letters that he said were written by his mother claiming to have cancer.

Police said the letters asked for money and promised that the money would be paid back by his mother.

Delautre later admitted that these letters were false, according to court documents.

Documents said he also admitted to modifying a check and fraudulently endorsing another check by signing his father’s name on it.

Delautre is in the Fayette County Jail charged with two counts of exploitation of an adult and two counts of possession of a forged instrument.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday.
