Quick action by the Lexington Police K9 unit has a man accused of robbing a woman behind bars this morning.

According to the Lexington Police Department, the man robbed Jordan Pickering while she was walking to her car in downtown Lexington early Wednesday morning.

The man approached her and asked for a ride, Pickering says. When she refused, the suspect punched her in the mouth and took her wallet and keys.

Pickering tells ABC 36 that she never expected something like this to happen to her. “It sucks,” she says. “Being a girl you take precautions against something like that happening to you, but sometimes it happens anyway.”

Lexington Police K9 units were called to the scene and tracked the suspect to an area behind the old courthouse. Police officials say 32-year-old Patrick Coleman was arrested on the scene.
