A man drove up on the sidewalk during the St. Patrick's Day Parade in downtown Lexington Saturday, almost striking several people, according to police.
Police said it happened at around 2:45 p.m.
Dwight Napier, 56, is accused of driving his Nissan onto the sidewalk at North Broadway.
After missing several pedestrians, including children, police said Napier hit a tree.
They said he then tried to back up and get around the tree but hit it again then drove off.
Police said he was found in the car that was parked on the curb at Second Street and that an open bottle of gin was on the floorboard.
He was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.
Police said criminal charges are pending.
