Police in Richmond said a suspect was killed in a crash shortly after committing a theft.
Police said it started Saturday morning at a vacant factory on South Keeneland Drive.
According to police, someone spotted a man in a truck that had a large amount of copper in it.
The person told the man he was calling police.
Police said that’s when the suspect sped off.
Shortly after the call, police learned that the suspect, James Ward, 40, was killed in a single-vehicle crash on I-75 near mile marker 85.
They said the stolen copper was still in the vehicle.
