State Police said Thursday that eight people had been indicted for Engaging in Organized Crime in Martin County.
State Police Post 9 Pikeville conducted an investigation into the theft of funds belonging to the Martin County Water District.
State Police said from the investigation, it was determined that 8 people fraudulently obtained and cashed checks illegally from the water department account.
The indictees include:
- Jerry L. Maynard, 24, Inez
- Colby C. Maynard, 26, Inez
- Nannie Lucy Blackburn, 35, Inez
- Dennis Scott, 34, Pilgrim
- Alvin Wesley Johnson, 28, Inez
- Melissa Hinkle, 28, Inez
- Justin Keller, 29, Inez
- Sean Keller, 27, Inez
State Police said all eight people were indicted by the Martin County Grand Jury on charges of engaging in organized crime / criminal syndicate.
The case remains under investigation.
