Lexington police said an officer was helping a stranded motorist on I-75 Friday night when a semi collided with a vehicle and flipped.

It happened near mile marker 113.

Police said the officer and the stranded driver were both taken to the hospital.

Investigators said the officer is expected to be okay after possibly being hit by debris.

Police did not yet have an update on the condition of the driver.

Crews worked to figure out if the liquid was hazardous.

Meanwhile officers knocked on doors and asked some nearby residents to stay indoors for the time being.

The residents who police were concerned about lived in the area of Lisa Drive, Mona Court and Carla Court.
