More than 1,000 people lined up for the start of a fundraising party Monday night to help a Lexington restaurant owner.
Mamadou Savane was recently burned on more than half of his body in a cooking accident.
He is the owner of Sav's Grill & West African Cuisine.
Sav spent several days in ICU at UK Hospital.
He is still in the hospital receiving treatment for his burns.
Since his accident, the community has raised more than $60,000 to help.
And the financial help will continue with a MasterChef Watch Party Monday at Smiley Pete Publishing on Old Vine Street.
Only about 600 people were expected to attend.
But the evening event, which was scheduled to run from from 6:00 to 10:00, had about 1,300 in attendance in just the first 45 minutes.
The line to get into the watch party stretched around the block. Click here
