Police evacuated part of a Lexington motel Thursday night after they discovered an active methamphetamine lab in one of the rooms.
Police said they received a call at around 10:45 p.m. from someone saying there was a strong chemical smell coming from one of the rooms at the Catalina Motel.
Officers arrived and instantly recognized the odor as a methamphetamine lab.
The wing of the motel where the room was located was evacuated.
The Lexington Fire Department and a Hazmat crew were called in.
The four occupants of the room were decontaminated then arrested.
Police said evacuated guests were placed in other rooms.
They also said the decontamination process took several hours.
