Mark Stanziano: Laid To Rest

A stunned community gathered to say goodbye to a respected criminal defense attorney in Somerset Tuesday. Mark Stanziano was shot and killed while walking to his office last Friday.
Family, Friends and loved ones said their goodbyes to one of the most prominent defense attorneys in the state of Kentucky, Tuesday.

Around two hundred packed the chapel at Southern Oaks Funeral Home in Somerset, where several speakers spoke, including Ernie Lewis, national association for public defense.

Lewis and many others called Stanziano a warrior; a warrior that stepped towards injustice, not away.

Friends said Stanziano was fearless in the courtroom, and had the biggest heart, outside it.

Among those, his wife, Bethany Stanziano.

"His passion, and his love for fellowman, especially those who were less fortunate. It didn't matter to Mark, his status in the community or your financial situation, he believed everyone deserved to be treated fairly," said Bethany Stanziano.

And because of that passion, Bethany doesn't feel any hate towards Clinton Inabnitt; the man accused of killing her best friend.

"I do not have anger in my heart at all. I'm angry that I've lost my best friend."

Some of Mark Stanziano's law school classmates have established an endowment fund in his honor at the University of Louisville.

It will be funded through private donations and be awarded annually to law students.
