A man got out of his car after a wreck in Lexington early Friday morning just moments before the vehicle caught fire.

Police said the man told them he had just come from a late-night church service.

He was driving inbound on Nicholasville Road when he fell asleep at the wheel.

Police said he crossed several lanes of traffic and went down an embankment, narrowly missing a guardrail and utility poles.

He got out of his car to call for help when he said it caught fire.

The man was not hurt in the crash.
