A man is behind bars this morning after two teenagers are shot outside a Danville grocery store.

Just after 8:30 Monday evening, police were called to the Rincon Latino grocery store for a report of shots fired.

Shortly after, 18-year-old John Cherry and 17-year-old Cheyenna Pinkston arrived at the Ephriam McDowell Regional Medical Center with gunshot wounds.

We’re told Cherry had to be flown to UK Hospital for his injuries. No word on his condition.

Pinkston was treated and released from the local hospital.

Police have since arrested 21-year-old Joshua Sargent. He is charged with two counts of attempted murder and wanton endangerment.

Police say bullets were found inside the store, where children and innocent bystanders were shopping at the time of the crime.

Bullets also damaged some cars in the parking lot.

Police say they have not yet determined a motive for the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing.
