According the the World Health Organization, 5,000 children die every day from unclean drinking water.
Ellie Prosser, a 6-year-old living in Richmond, knows first hand how important clean drinking water is.
Ellie was adopted a few years ago from Ethiopia by Jeff and Holly Prosser.
The first 9 months were spent getting Ellie treatment for the many parasites she got from drinking unclean water.
The Prosser family became very aware and very passionate about the water crisis in Ethiopia.
Jeff and Holly Prosser previously worked with a couple of groups, including One Child Campaign and Edge Outreach, to provide a water purification system in Ethiopia.
This year, Ellie wanted to help out.
She decided in lieu of a birthday party, she would raise money for a 2nd water system for her home country.
The Prosser bought a 250 piece puzzle and asked for a $10 donation per piece.
Every person that gave $10 wrote their name on the back of the puzzle piece to symbolize that they were a part of this campaign.
So many friends and family members helped out that Ellie is working on raising enough money for not just one, but 2 water systems.
