The Lafayette High School Band in Lexington has been recognized as one of the best bands in the state by becoming the Kentucky Class 5A marching band champions.

This is Lafayette's 17th state championship.

Madison Central High School took third place this year, and Dunbar was fourth.

The Lafayette Marching Band's year doesn't end with this state title win.

This winter they will travel to Pasadena, California to serve as Kentucky's representative at the Tournament of Roses Parade.

As a proud Madison Central band parent I think it is worth noting that 5-A is an extremely competitive class and both Tates Creek and Henry Clay High Schools also deserve recognition for their eighth and ninth place finishes (respectively) in yesterday's state semi-finals. It takes a tremendous amount of work and dedication to make it to that level in KMEA competition.
