Kevin Ware On Road To Recovery

The Louisville basketball player received surgery after a horrific leg injury in a match against Duke, and was walking the next day. Coach Rick Pitino said Ware should be out of the hospital Tuesday.
Most people wouldn't be up and walking after breaking two bones in one leg.

Louisville basketball player Kevin Ware, 20, isn't most people.

In the Cardinals' game against Duke Sunday, Ware landed on his right leg awkwardly. It caused both his fibula and tibia (the main weight-bearing bone in the leg) to break, puncturing skin.

He had surgery Sunday in Indianapolis, and was up and walking the next day.

Coach Rick Pitino said Ware would likely be released Tuesday if all goes according to plan. Ware is expected to join his team for the Final Four in Atlanta on Saturday.

Ware's mother, Lisa Junior, said he's looking ahead.

"He's not so much focusing on what happened. But he's focusing on the recovery of it all. He still wants to be there to support his team. And, um, he's in great spirits," she said.

Ware tweeted it'll be eight to twelve weeks for recovery.

ABC-36 tweeted him, asking if there was anything he wanted people to know.

His reply? "keep praying."
