26-year-old Sergeant Michael Cable was laid to rest today at Rose Hill Cemetary in Owensboro.

He was a part of Operation Enduring Freedom and died March 27th while on duty in Afghanistan.

Officials say a teenager stabbed him while he was playing with some children.

Governor Beshear ordered flags to be flown at half staff today in his memory.

Cable was awarded the Silver Star and the Purple Heart after his death.

The Daviess County native was scheduled to return home in June.
