A Kentucky man was hospitalized in critical condition following a skydiving accident in Mississippi.
David Meek, 26, of Paintsville was tandem skydiving with an instructor Saturday morning when investigators said their parachute malfunctioned.
According to the Lamar county sheriff in Mississippi, his office was called at around 1:40 p.m.
Meeks and Jimmie Horak, Jr. were finally located at around 3:30 p.m. about a mile from the airport in a swamp, remote area.
Meeks was airlifted to the hospital with severe leg and spinal injuries, according to the sheriff.
Horak was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff said the Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the accident.
