Kentucky hikers are mourning the loss of a very special, four-legged friend.

The well-known border collie mix 'Tillie' of Indian Fort died Tuesday afternoon in Berea.

ABC 36 joined Tillie on the trails back in June.

She wore a tag that read 'My name is Tillie. I am not a stray. I live next door. Let's go for a hike.'

And for years, Tillie hiked with strangers and friends alike.

Her owners posted on Tillie's facebook page that the 13-year old dog died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones.

It also reads,"The greatest part of Tillie's work lay in her ability to bring out the best in us, her Human Friends."
