A Lexington man is in critical condition after being beaten Monday night in Jessamine County.

Police now accuse 36-year-old Curtis Flora with first degree assault.

He's in jail in Jessamine County.

Police say this started when Flora was driving his friend, 32-year-old James Dean Wallace, home from a New Year's Eve Party Monday night in Jessamine County.

Investigators says Flora stopped the car and walked to the passenger side before hitting Wallace several times on the head with his fist.

Purcell says Flora then drove the car to his girlfriend's house on Silverleaf Drive in Lexington where they called 911.

Wallace is in critical condition at UK Hospital.
